Measure in a repeatable way

Use the same reference points, record units beside every value, and take multiple measurements when surfaces or routes are irregular. A precise formula cannot repair an ambiguous measurement.

Average speed needs a deliberate time definition. Square footage and volume need dimensions that describe the same physical section.

Break complex work into sections

Split an L-shaped room into rectangles, a mixed slab into depth zones, or a trip into route segments. Calculate valid sections separately and add their quantities.

Keep intermediate precision until the end. Round a material order to package or supplier increments only after the ideal total and allowance are visible.
